2013 Review–Patient Safety Officers

The heart of the Patient Safety Program at Mission Hospital, Asheville, NC, is our team of clinically-based Patient Safety Officers (PSOs).  PSOs are practicing clinicians (physicians, RNs, and pharmacists) who are committed to leading the charge for continuous improvement in safety in their specific areas.  The team was started in September 2012 with 13 PSOs in six departments.  During 2013, the team grew to 28 PSOs in 13 departments, including Surgery, Anesthesia, Emergency Department, Acute Care, Psychiatry, Pediatrics, Women’s Health, Infection Prevention, Pharmacy, Critical Care, Cardiology, Radiology/Procedural and Mission Medical Associates.
